Instability in Buea! Today Monday the 28th of November, the dissatisfied students of the University of Buea have decided to take to the street make their voices heard. These angry Cameroonian youths are fed up with the school administration as they demand the refund of the 10, 000 FCFA fee for the late entry for registration and the payment of the 50, 000 FCFA presidential grants.
The peaceful strike action eventually transitioned into violence due to the intervention of the military to subdue these voices. These soldiers kept on implementing military might on the university students who have dared only to demand what is rightfully theirs. The elements of the police force then extended the move into students neighbourhood, while molesting and arresting them.
The bone of contention of this sudden uprising in Buea correlates with the Southern Cameroon struggle such as the cry of marginalisation and the cry for a federated Cameroon in which both the English speaking and French speaking parts of the country are equal in status. As a consequence, the director of students affair of the university of Buea instructed students to leave the school Campus and go back home till further notice. But from the look of things, these students are still targeted from the comforts of their homes by the military.
