Today the 21st of December 2016,  President Uhuru Kenyatta officially inaugurated Volkswagen production line at Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers Limited in Thika. “The decision by the Volkswagen Group to invest in Kenya resonates well with my Administration’s stated policy to industrialize our economy,” Kenyatta stated on his facebook page.

The Jubilee Government will continue to develop supportive and progressive policies, and laws and regulations that will see a rapid shift from this initial investment to a full and scaled-up assembly. It is, therefore, with pride and joy that we inaugurate the new Volkswagen Production Facility and welcome the “People’s Brand” back home.

Uhuru Kenyatta addressed the inhabitants of Thika after inaugurating the Volkswagen production line and made this remark.

“We must have peaceful, free and transparent elections next year. This issue of every time when we have elections some people try to hold the country hostage must stop. The elections are for the over 40 million Kenyans not just a few people who want to advance their narrow and selfish intentions by trying to cause chaos every time we have elections”.

“Kenyans are tired of the retrogressive politics propagated by the Opposition and their attempts to delay elections so that they can get a ‘nusu-mkate’ government will not work. We want an election that will enable Kenyans to form the Government that they want and nobody will prevent that. I will neither stop nor be discouraged by the noise and insults peddled by a few individuals because we know that every market has its own mad man,” added the President
