MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) just added another spice to its already amazing MoMo service of paying tuition fees. This time around, not only University students will benefit. High school students across Cameroon will also be benefiting from their new service. The innovative idea came from the University of Buea’s College of Technology at MTN Cameroon’s developer contest at GICAM in Douala.
The idea from the team is to deploy a platform to pay various tuition and examination charges safely nation-wide. As such, students can pay fees without having to move. Their demonstration in front of the jury showed how to make this solution work from a website. They highlighted the ability of students of the University to integrate effective and secure payments via Mobile Money.
Paying tuition fees via MTN Mobile Money
Just a few years back, MTN introduced its new platform of paying fees via MoMo. The payment of registration fees via MoMo was successfully tested at the University of Buea under a partnership agreement between MTN Cameroon and the university administration. Students were able to pay their university registration and tuition fees securely, via MTN Mobile Money. This spared them the stress of standing in long queues at the university campus.
As a result, students in the universities of Buea, Yaounde I, Bamenda, Ngaoundere and Dschang enjoyed the same privilege. They could equally pay their school fees via MTN Mobile Money. This MTN service was well received because it appears to be the safest and fastest way to send and receive money. Students and the Cameroonian society as a whole have been using it since then.
The good news here is, this service just got better! It is now available for all public universities and colleges which have signed a contract with MTN Cameroon. Just as their slogan: “With MoMo, no need for cash or card, just MoMo it”, students will no doubt, find this new innovation very reliable.
Benefits of Mobile Money
Thanks to MoMo, parents can now avoid traveling to pay their children’s school fees in any high school in Cameroon.
Consequently, the traffic on the school campuses before the start of the academic year will reduce greatly. This innovation will also reduce the displacement of students and transportation risks. Basically, the inconveniences of cash handling and theft common during such periods may totally disappear.
The jury highly applauded the idea from the South West team to deploy such an amazing platform to pay various tuition fees. It is no doubt that parents and not just students, will embrace this initiative with open arms as it is not only time-saving but stress-free.
