Many of the world’s fastest growing economies are African economies. African countries have begun to lead the world in agriculture, technology, and innovation-based entrepreneurship.
In a bid to create employment, eradicate poverty/hunger and build sustainable economies, Africa has seen the rise in entrepreneurship and business creation now more than any other time in its history.
Strawacademy Africa works in fostering the African economy through the creation of sustainable business and social development enterprises and the nurturing of African entrepreneurial ecosystems.
About Strawacademy Africa and its impact so far
The platform has inspired close to 2,000 African startups (profit and non-profit) through a variety of means including the running of weekly Inspirational Summits, its radio and TV programs Inspire Me, its online inspirational ministry as well as its weekly inspirational publication ‘Inspire Me Magazine.’
Strawacademy inspires young entrepreneurs and trains them with the necessary skills to better manage their businesses. Then it creates a platform for them to connect with other young African entrepreneurs and potential investors.
Who’s Mac Alunge?
Its founder Mac Alunge is an award-winning Spoken Word Artist, Inspirational Speaker, Author, and mentor. He’s also the initiator of the African Association of Spoken Word Artists (AASWA) presently in 36 African countries, the NBA (National Bloggers Association) and Strawacademy Awards.
Strawacademy is a hybrid (non-profit & profit organization) and an entrepreneurial community which is aimed at fostering Sustainable Development Goals 1, 4, 8, 9 & 11 for West and Central Africa.
As an artist, Mac creatively uses his skill and talent to foster African economic development through the creation of sustainable business and social development enterprises by changing the Africa-narrative. He does this by inspiring a paradigm shift in the mind of the average African into an entrepreneurial solution-based system of thought by Personal Development, Capacity Building, Edu-Entertainment, Provocative and innovation-based Learning, thus enhancing SDGs 1, 4, 8, 9 & 11 for West and Central Africa.
The rich portfolio he has assembled for himself
According to Mac, a clear understanding of God-ordained purpose is the biggest source of inspiration and motivation to accomplish any dream. And his commitment to living out loud his purpose doesn’t see any barrier.
Strawacademy is working towards creating over 1 million African-running business spots by 2040 and to inspire 1 billion people worldwide. With the growth of the ecosystem over the years, therefore, this Strawentrepreneurial vision is only possible.
Mac Alunge’s slams are known all over Africa, having a huge positive impact on millions of people. His hit track ‘Destiny,’ has been played at ALA (Africa Leadership Academy) South Africa, Pishion Enterprise (Japan), TEDx Fellowship (UK) and several other inspirational gatherings.
His message to all young people, therefore, is to find and live out God’s purpose for their lives through Christ. Discovering purpose is vital in having visions & goals to be achieved. Living on purpose makes a person bring contributions to the growth of the society that changes the lives of other people.
As Mac says, “success doesn’t come overnight; it entails hard work. You have to be willing to relentlessly follow your passion, give up all pleasures and step out of your comfort zone to be successful. In anything you do, never forget to call on God’s name at any time. He will answer, guide & direct your steps and will hold your hand throughout.”
A poem from Mac Alunge
Regardless of your skin texture
Harken to this lecture
Yes, you can create your own future
But with a dream, a mental picture
Use your mind as a perfect sculpture
Then keep the dream alive and well nurtured
Rise above the limitations of your culture
Don’t be scared to start a new venture
Whatever gets broken, God will suture
He is your shepherd, He provides the pasture
Maybe your life was broken and ruptured
Probably on the way, you obtained a fracture
So bad, real bad, it affected your posture
Now you walk and work with a sickly gesture
Well, this journey might not always be filled with pleasure
You may not always be comfortable with leisure
But under the heat, the struggle and pressure
Remember your goal, the final treasure
