Game of thrones will end after season 8. This news that fans were always scared to hear, has finally been confirmed by HBO.
It should be noted that the fans of GOT have not been very happy lately when it was announced that Game of Thrones Season 7 will be short of 3 episodes, that is seven instead of the usual ten episodes and that there will be a delay on the release of the season7 as ‘winter finally came’. With this news, it’s certain fans aren’t going to find it funny anymore.
At the Television Critics Association’s press Tour the programming executive of HBO, Casey Bloys was asked by EW of the plans to bring an end to the show after the eighth season and Casey had to say in relation to that:
“Yes. They have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do, Believe me, as the new [programming executive] coming in, if I could get them to do more, I would take 10 more seasons. But we take their lead on what they think they can do the best version of the show.”
This is not a very good news for the fans but it still doesn’t mean that it is all over for Game of thrones considering what the programming executive said about being open to a Game of thrones spinoff. If this happens, many fans will surely be happy.
Talking about a spinoff, he said, “we have talked about it. It’s something I’m not opposed to, but of course it has to make sense creatively. I’m not sure that that [Benioff and Weiss] could really wrap their heads around it when they’re just about to start a production on season 7. It’s a pretty intense production, they are about to start production soon. I’m open to it, but there’s no concrete plan for it at this point.”
