Charlotte Dipanda was born on the 18th of July 1985 in Yaounde in a family with musical talents. She, however, grew up with her grandmother who taught her everything she knows today after her mum travelled to the United States of America.
Now, there have been lots of questions about her success story.
- Did Charlotte actually soil her soul in exchange for fame?
- Why is she not yet married?
Well, criticisms come in only when one has achieved a certain level of success. Most at times when one is still struggling to make it, the efforts are hardly recognised. It is only when he or she has made it that people begin talking forgetting that one had been struggling for long before making it. Such is the case with Charlotte who started her musical career at the age of 15 when she had to battle with singing in cabarets and attending school at the same time.
Real success began when she joined a team of rappers for the Mutzig 2000 competition. Finishing at the head of the competition, she became more solicited by cabarets owners, managers, mentors such as Jeannot Hens, a Cameroonian guitarist as well as other national and international artists.
In 2001, she moved to France to perfect her skills in the Arts Culture Perception Institute and is an opportunity to meet with other icons like Manu Dibango, Papa Wemba, Rokia Traore, Lokua Kanza and Le Groupe Kassav. By 2008 she made up her mind on producing solo, a decision which finally brought her to the limelight. Charlotte Dipanda sings in French, Bakaka and Douala.
Curious enough that this beauty piece is not yet married. However, as she says, she is waiting for the right person. She does not want to get married just because society expects that at her age and social status she should be. Hope this finds relevance in your doubts as to her personality.
