The lord mayor of the Buea council, Ekema Patrick addressed the people of Buea yesterday the 30th of November 2016 at the Buea independence square. Social crisis, the Anglophone problem and the university of Buea strike are pressing issues that need attention. The mayor led the crowd to present the grievances of the people in a memorandum, to the Governor of the South West, Bernard Okalia Bilai.
He negotiated the immediate release of all those detained during the strike action on Monday the 28th of November. Afterwards, he did promise to review the situation of commercial motorbike riders. He pleaded that the Buea Council shall take complete charge of the hospital bills of all injured persons during the strike action. He finally ordered the release of all motorbikes and taxis impounded at the Buea Council without payment of the usual penalties.
The Buea mayor requested the Governor to proffer solutions to the grievances of the concerned citizens of southern Cameroon. Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai Promised to submit the unsolved grievances to the appropriate quarters for solutions to be sought.
