Tech hubs and incubators play major roles in entrepreneurship in Cameroon. African Center for Technology, Innovation and Venture Space (ACTIVSPACES) is Cameroons leading tech and innovation hub helping young entrepreneurs transform their ideas into a funded startup. This innovation hub was founded in 2010 by Bill Zimmerman, Rebecca Enonchong, Tse Fua and Valery Colong. These four founders are also members of Board together with Ben White and Viola Llewellyn of Ovamba Cameroon.
This organization depend on grants from international funders and has partners such as MTN innovation challenge, Hivos people unlimited, AppsTech, Stichting Doen, the indigo trust, VC4 Africa, Afrilabs and Google

The co-working space is free to tech entrepreneurs who are actively working on a startup. This hub has two main co-working spaces Buea and Douala respectively. Young Cameroonian potential techpreneurs are advice to visit this innovation hub on a regular basis so as to exchange ideas and network with other tech founders.

ActivSpaces Cameroon ”tech hub ” has two co-working spaces and offers an incubator program called Activation Boot Camp and incubator programs.
Activation boot Camp offers an acceleration program offers startups an opportunity to present their ideas in a pitch day competition called Pitch Day 237. This program allows startups across Cameroon to pitch their ideas in front of ActivSpaces board and Cameroon Angel Network board (C.A.N). Startups with brilliant business ideas are selected by a panel of judges as winners. Winners of pitch day 237 are subsequently offered a seed investment of 4.6 million frs CFA in cash and services. These startups with seed investments are followed up for a period 6 months to 1 year. After all, they are expected to graduate by pitching to investors on a pitch day. The incubator program permits tech projects from community members and startups in Buea and Douala to incubate. It’s aimed to help them make Sales, build traction and attract more investment from external investors This program offers free office space with facilities like internet, free conference room and teleconferencing tools. A business development specialist is assigned to mentor and guide these tech projects to come to full realisation.
Active Spaces Cameroon run several communities which build solutions useful for the growth of the tech ecosystem. Communities such as Google Developer Group Buea (G.D.G Buea) headed by Kunga Isaac, Docker Buea headed by Nya Watad Checck, Scratch Group Cameroon headed by Tanue Eugen-Bleck, Women Techmakers headed by Mpara Faith and WordPress 4 Startups headed by Nde Micheal. These communities organise active events such as free training in programming and digital marketing in Buea and Douala that helps to teach the extended communities on how to acquire tech skills and understand the cutting-edge of technologies.
Global entrepreneurship week 2016 Buea was powered by ActivSpaces. This event created an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to work in teams. They were partitioned into groups where they did some brain storming and business idea generation. The newly conceived business ideas were later presented to a panel of jury for evaluation and deliberation of the best business idea.
There are a variety of incubated startups doing so well act active spaces Buea and Douala such as skyLabase, Viva, Easy codes etc. These startups are doing quite well in the market and thanks to ActivSpaces.
In a nutshell, ActivSpaces offers young Cameroonian a road map to achieve a funded startup. This incubator offers a free working space and internet to community members and startups. It is deeply engaged in consulting and building the community especially with the recently launched P.L.M meetups where Young Cameroonian are taught IT skills such as programming, web development and design.
