How to Overcome Failure
It’s always such a bad feeling when you fail but failure will only stop coming when you stop trying. You need to develop a smart way to handle failure. Success is an event, while failure is a process. And what matters most is the process not the event. Never let failure drag you down. This weekend I’d like to share 5 habits to help you overcome failure. These have helped me and so many great people be who they are today. Hope it helps you too.
1. Accept the Feeling
It’s OK to feel hurt when you fail. Try to accept and let it in.Don’t try to avoid the responsibility by pushing it on someone else, or trying to shy away from the pain. It’s easily processed and feels better when you accept..
If you can’t handle it in person, it’s OK to vent it out to someone else. Sometimes you feel much better after talking to someone. It’s like a weight thrown off your shoulder. But mind you, be careful to whom you talk to. Not everyone is worth it. Talk to someone who can advise you and not discourage you.
2. You’re not a Failure
Never think you’re a failure just because you had one or a few setbacks. No one ever became righteously successful without an instance of failure. It’s very easy for you to start feeling that that’s the last try and you can never make it in that area. What you should do is Think of it as a lesson and try to learn from your mistakes. You need to be optimistic and keep moving forward. Things can never remain the same all your life.
Be constructive! Ask yourself questions about those things you never did right and give an honest answer. Once you plan on how to make that right, you will definitely succeed.
3. All Successful People Failed at Some Point.
Often times we don’t hear about people’s struggles but their successes. But their road was definitely a rocky one too. People love proclaiming success and not the struggles.
Here’s what Michael Jordan had to say about his struggles
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
Hope that encourages you more.
4. Find Inspiration.
Another great thing to do is find someone either in your field, or some inspirational person and read about their setbacks, and path to success. Or read some motivational books like “failing Forward” by John Maxwell.
5. Move Forward Again..
Try hard not to stay locked down in your sorrows for too long. You need to process the situation. Act on those questions you must have asked yourself by drawing a plan for the future. And immediately you do this start acting on it. Don’t wait for a perfect time, it’s right now. However, develop your self-esteem. This you will achieve by following all these steps above.as paralyzing anymore.
Following these steps will help you overcome failure and prepare you for bigger things ahead.Recommend0 recommendationsPublished in
